The traditional sharpening offers the skater the choice between speed or bite. The deep hollow which is needed to increase bite also increases friction between your blade and the ice creating a drag effect.

With Flat bottom V technology the edges are the same but the hollow is flattened, decreasing drag and increasing speed. It’s no wonder why 20 NHL teams signed up to use this technology for the 09-10′ season.
